For your wedding day, or any portrait session, I recommend hiring a makeup artist. But why? Maybe you feel pretty confident in your makeup skills! Here are my top reasons for having a makeup artist take care of your face for you for photos:

 

• Your Makeup Will Last – Makeup artists are used to doing makeup to last – for your wedding day they know what products to use, and have them on hand, to make sure your face looks great all day! No eyeshadow creasing or disappearing in a couple of hours! As a mom, you can fit in a morning application, run the errands, pick up the kids, and still have it stay put for family photos!

• Objective Opinion – sometimes we get stuck on our “problem features” or doing our makeup a certain way (i.e. 90’s thick black eyeliner that made eyes look smaller…and over plucked, barely there brows…) without noticing how it really affects our overall look and whether it actually enhances our features or not. A makeup artist is an outside opinion who isn’t going to get hung up on any of your insecurities or habits and will just make you look your best!

 

 

 

• Stress – As a mom of four children, one thing that can be stressful about getting our family photos done is making sure I have time to get me ready! For my maternity photos last month, I made an appointment to get my makeup done earlier in the afternoon so that would be taken care of and I could focus on getting my kids ready without stressing that i wouldn’t have time to get myself ready! Similarly, on a wedding day, there are a lot of details going through your mind, and having someone just take care of that for you is a big one! Your face will be what gets seen the most and of course you want to look your best!

 

 

 

• Colors – Have you ever gotten a spray tan, or gone on a tropical vacation in the winter and suddenly your foundation no longer matches your skin tone! Or, run out of your matching shade just when you needed it? A makeup artist has all of the shades! She can custom-mix the perfect shade for your skin that day to guarantee you don’t look too orange, dark, or light!
